Smoke from the fires in the interior of British Columbia was worse today and it caused my throat to be raw and sensitive. There seems to be no end to the fires, of which there are about 550 in the entire province. While at the local post office, I noticed an older couple riding up on bicycles, so I asked the woman if they were from around this area. She replied, in French, that they were from France, so I attempted my best to speak to her in French which I have almost forgotten. Her husband came out and joined us in the conversation. They flew from France to Montreal, then spent three months cycling across Canada. After reaching Vancouver they will fly to Tokyo, cycle around Japan, then go on to Vietnam and then fly back to France, making this adventure last an entire year.
