We gladly welcomed today’s cooler temperature, for we could avoid the previous unbearable heat. People arrived before noon, on this the occasion of my birthday, and began to prepare lunch. Soon, we were seated at a long table in the hall, eating and appreciating each other’s company. All afternoon people kept coming and going, and the second meal began around five o’clock, again with people coming and going. I was very touched by the love they showed and, moreover, it was sincere love. Meanwhile, my mobile phone kept ringing with friends offering their best wishes. I realized how fortunate I have been to be surrounded by these loving, caring, and pious Orthodox Christians, that in my old age [I have turned 83] I have the greatest privilege of being in the midst of these devoted believers. God bless them all!

I wish I could have been there but my late injury of my shoulder and wrist prevents me fro driving so far. please keep praying for me whilst I recuperate over the next few months. I’ll certainly remember you as you approach your new hip, and Vl. Lazar during his recovery. I love you both! And miss coming to your friendly monastery.
