WEDNESDAY 04 DECEMBER 2019

The pain was so exhausting that I could not attend the Divine Liturgy but, as the day progressed, the pain lessened and by evening it was quite bearable.  In fact, a number of people dropped in for a visit and I found their stay to be enjoyable.  Later Vladika Lazar took me out for a drive to the neighbouring village of De Roche where the air was fresh and energizing, so that for the rest of the evening I could take pleasure in the autumn air.  The women who  stayed behind after the service had to make changes in their plans and therefore  they will not be able to feed the visitors who will arrive this week.  Some said that they would even bring their own sleeping bags and, with this in mind, their  stay should have no difficulties at all – except for me.  Gone are the days when I could crawl into a cozy sleeping bag for a night full of restful sleep and rejuvenation.  At my age I  have to sleep in my own bed, surrounded by my bottles of pills and anything else needed for a good night’s sleep.  These same kind people keep reminding me of three of my  aunt who had lived until the ripe age of 99, 100 and 101 and I, in turn, keep reminding them, that there is no guarantee that I shall live that long – even until the end of next year should be sufficient,

  1. Dearest Vladika Varlaam, we are so happy you feel better. We are thinking of you with much love and embrace you in our thoughts. You are such a blessing for all of us. God knows how much we need you and I hope He will grant you many many happy years. With God nothing is impossible. I know someone who years ago had two incurable diseases and now she is healthy and full of gratitude to God, to her beloved Vladika and all the people who prayed for her.
