Fr. Moses’ Daily Diary, 02 March, 2020

….I had a little adventure this morning when he found it necessary to climb through the window in order to leave his building; it seems that the sliding glass door would open only wide enough to pass a broom through but not wide enough for a person to make an exit.
….Other than this small adventure, the Great Lenten season appears to be beginning as it should.
….This evening, we celebrated the reading of the combination of Compline and the Canon of St Andrew of Crete, which is a super aid in reminding us of our lack of perfection and need to see ourselves as we are and to follow through in striving for improvement.
….As well, it was reassuring to hear from those attending the lenten service, that they are continuing with the reading of the Kathismas on behalf of Vladika Varlaam and that there are others who have joined in also. Our readers will probably want to know that it has finally been scheduled to serve two memorial services for the “40th Day” for Vladika Varlaam. The first celebration is on the 24 March which is Tuesday evening, at 19.00. The second memorial shall be on the Saturday following, which will be 28 March, at 17.00. These will be served in the main church of the monastery.
WE WISH TO REMIND EVERYONE THAT THE PRE-SANCTIFIED LITURGY WILL BE SERVED DURING GREAT LENT ON WEDNESDAY AND FRIDAY EVENINGS AT 19. 00 – 7 PM – EVERY WEEK.
