As many of you may recall, immediately behind the monastery buildings is a tall granite cliff, partially covered with moss and small plants, while the rest is bare rock.  Lower down we find many maple trees.  Today I noticed several long icicles on the cliff that were created by water gently pouring down after the rain.  There is a huge waterfall on our neighbour’s property, which had been a part of our property long before we acquired it, and now it is entirely covered in ice, quite a spectacular sight.  Our mysterious Thursday morning women were made known to us today because they came later than usual.  I walked into the main kitchen to find them preparing soup, a salmon and vegetable dish, and other delectable things.  We must thank them for their faithful visits in preparing food for us, yet wishing to remain anonymous.
