When Vladika Lazar awoke this morning, he could hear some unfamiliar sounds outside his window. Pulling aside the curtain, he saw a couple of bears eating apples while climbing the trees. He quickly banged on the window so that the sound scared them off. This means, no doubt, that they will return tonight to eat more apples. There is really no way to keep them away, even with the electric fence, but perhaps there are enough apples that we can share the larger part with them. What is interesting is that they did not touch the blueberries or cherries this year, or even the pears, so we should have no complaints. We were pleased to see that Vladika Lazar was extensively quoted in a book recently sent to us, The Heavenly Banquet by Father Emmanuel Hatzidakis,
