The monastery often has what could be called mysterious visitors, such as those who were here this morning. Glyko came to see us briefly and, when she went into the kitchen, she found a couple of women busy cooking. They had prepared a large pot of borshch, a vegetable ragout, and mushrooms with sour cream. I have no idea of who they were, but the food is delicious. At the same time, Glyko saw some visitors who had just arrived and she brought them to the cottage. It was the Booher family from Oshawa, Ontario that had come to Vancouver for a family funeral. It was a joy to converse with them and to see their enthusiasm about Orthodoxy. I do hope that they will be able to visit us again in the not so distant future. A large truck drove up with a power pole that was put up near the one that had been damaged in last winter’s ice storm. It did not take long for them to drill a hole and erect the pole for the electricians to move the wiring onto this new pole.
