The loud clashes of thunder in the middle of the night, together with flashes of lightning were disturbing, but perhaps they helped to keep today almost free from rain when the forecast told us that it would rain much of the day. Vladika Lazar came to the old church to baptize three little girls whose behaviour was outstanding. Their names were Anna, Alexandra, and Victoria, children from two different families. What made me happiest was that Vladika Lazar was able to lead in this service, another indication of his improvement in health. Chris and Christie from Regina paid us a brief visit. His father has painted several icons for our monastery and, I must say, he does it very well. Just as we had finished eating the cherries, Thomas picked more from the older tree across from the one that gave us so much fruit. Surely we must call this the year of the cherries!
