SATURDAY 11 AUGUST 2018

At last, at last, it has cooled off and we even had a bit of rain, although we would have appreciated several hours of heavy rain. Some volunteers worked all morning with weeding and watering the parched earth. After the rain the air was filled with an earthy aroma and a marvellous sense of satisfaction must have been felt by the withering greenery. We baptized four month old Timothy this afternoon and I think that he was the quietest baby we have ever baptized. After Vespers a young woman received a blessing for the birth of her child in a couple of weeks. Those of us who remained for supper enjoyed each other’s company and conversation until I finally had to excuse myself to get ready to retire for the night.
