SATURDAY 30 JUNE 2018

Although it has been an overcast day with some showers, there was much activity here at the monastery, as the Georgians gathered early for the Divine Liturgy served by Father Thomas who had flown in from Toronto. I am certain that the people were amazed at the beauty of the large icon that he had brought and which will remain here in the upper church where the Georgians have their Liturgies. I was unable to stay long during the service, as I had to go on to the new church where we baptized one year old Ivan who behaved splendidly, except for a momentary whimper. The godparents had driven from Ohio to be present at this baptism. The Georgian Agape meal was abundant, as are all their meals, delicious and completely lenten. We got to meet a young couple who had recently arrived from Georgia, both of whom are doctors. Zinaida arrived to complete the painting that Natalia had begun yesterday. Not long before the beginning of Vespers, I suddenly realized that the prosphora had not yet been baked, so I hurried to fulfil this task which meant that I missed the service which was done by Father Moses.
