I did not go out yet to investigate, but Father Moses thought that the icon simply fell off the cedar tree because the bark behind it had begun to rot and the weight of the icon caused it to fall. Actually it is not just an icon but a triangular frame to which it was glued. It was a relief to realize that it was not willful destruction. For some years a set of chimes has hung on the edge of the eaves on the cottage, but today I was absolutely startled by what looked like a monstrosity hanging instead. Upon closer examination, it turned out to be a hanging strawberry bag [I cannot think of another word for it] with runners hanging down. Another place will have to be found for it as, aesthetically speaking, it looks like an ugly duckling which, by the way, will not turn out to be a beautiful swan.
