The old willow trees along the water that were damaged during the winter storm were looked at carefully and the process of cutting the damaged branches began. Some of these branches are huge and they dipped right into the water. Since this wood will be of no use in the fireplace, it will be chipped for mulch. The maple trees that were cut down should give us a good supply of wood for the winter, but we will need men to carry them away, then to chop them and stack them to dry before winter sets in. A couple of men carried my family trunk into the reception room, creating more space in the cottage. The two matching armchairs that once belonged to a Russian countess were in terrible condition and had to be disposed of.
