Elia and Gerry took us out for lunch, a belated Father’s Day treat. When the waitress came to take our order, she called all of us “You guys” to which Vladika quickly answered, “We are not guys!” then he went on to explain that older people should not be addressed that way. I think that the waitress was stunned by those words, but later the manager, a sweet young woman whom we know, came up and told us that she agreed with us. The lunch, by the way, was excellent and we enjoyed each other’s company. I gave them some of the figs from our Greek fig tree and I was happy to find out that both of them like figs, as quite a few people do not like them.
