In the morning we went to examine the trees that were planted yesterday because there was a slight possibility that the coyotes could have dug down to the roots, having smelled the bone meal that was added before transplanting, a problem we had experienced before. Andy was already in the field and he told us that his dogs had chased away a pack of coyotes the other day and they have stayed away, at least for the time being. We are also experiencing problems with a newly arrived beaver, but Andy thinks that he will have this particular problem under control soon. Igor and his father Ion came in the evening to have his new van blessed and to have prayers read before travelling, as both of them will be driving to Yukon to complete the project that he had started in winter. He showed us photos he had taken in winter of bisons walking along the road and enjoying total freedom, although I forget if it was in Yukon or northern British Columbia.
