SUNDAY 24 JUNE 2018

Today’s Liturgy was served in Church Slavonic with two litanies, one in Romanian and the other in Georgian. A number of people were about to leave for Europe, so prayers for travellers were read. Vladika Lazar served together with Father Alexey and Father Evgeny. Later in the afternoon, after almost everyone had left, some of us went to the monument in the field to pick cherries. Markel climbed up the cherry tree as did Oleg, while Vanya and Sasha used the tall ladders. Others included Dima, David, Alexander, Olga, Anastasia, while little Taisia simply observed all that was taking place. I could scarcely believe the amount of cherries they picked, about ten large containers. We could keep only a small amount for ourselves, so the rest was taken by the pickers for themselves and to pass on to others. It was a shock to see the front passenger window of the sedan completely shattered. I have no way of knowing how that came about, but we shall have to replace it quickly. Just this morning I was thinking about taking the sedan tomorrow for my monthly visit to the chiropractor.
