SUNDAY 15 JULY 2018

It has been a memorable day. Archbishop Iriney arrived early in the morning to begin the Matins service. Neither Vladika Lazar nor I served, since Vladika Iriney had Father Phillip Erickson and Father Evgeny Prokhin, as well as Deacon Paul Bartlett serving with him. Reader Markel Tihon was ordained first as subdeacon, and later in the service as deacon. It was especially touching when everyone cried out “Axios, axios, axios!’ We are very confident that newly ordained Deacon Markel will prove to be a devout clergyman and, we pray, that he might become priest in the near future. Archbishop Iriney’s presence was a true blessing as everyone could feel his sincerity, openness, and love, and we hope to see him many times more in the future. After most of the people left, a small group of volunteers watered all the plants and picked the ripening berries, tasks that we find difficult to do. The eventful weekend has ended and now we can thank Jesus Christ for all the blessings that He has bestowed upon us in these few days.
