Last night was most curious in that I could not go to sleep, with my ‘good’ leg bothering me with sharp jabs of pain. Still, I did manage to fall asleep somewhere past five in the morning which of course meant that I walked about like a zombie during the day.  Visitors were received today by Father Moses for which I am grateful as I probably would have been too cranky.  We finished Dima’s dark rye bread which is so delicious that one slice is never enough. For months I have stayed out of the main kitchen but today Father Moses volunteered to pick a bag of stinging nettles that are in their prime and tomorrow I shall use them to make a superb lenten soup.  In fact, my mouth is already beginning to water just at the thought of that soup.
