FRIDAY 7 SEPTEMBER 2018

The day began with plenty of sunshine, then light clouds began to gather, followed by heavier ones so that by mid afternoon it began to rain, not heavily, but enough for the soil to soak up the refreshing rain. This meant that I had to use an umbrella while walking between buildings, something I have not done for weeks, perhaps even months. Since it is Friday, I set out to make a prosphora for Sunday, using the usual method, but instead of having a glass pie plate, I used a large cookie sheet with some parchment paper. I was prepared to repeat the process if this one was going to be unsuccessful, however, much to my delight, it came out perfectly, and in the future I shall try to continue using this method. For supper I made what is a favourite dish here at the monastery—cold watermelon soup. Do not be shocked, it is delicious and, as Father Moses mentioned, he could eat it every day!
